Questions patients ask

What to do depends on the medication and how much time has passed, so the safest step is to ask your clinician or pharmacist what to do rather than doubling up. If missed doses keep happening, bring it up at your next visit so we can adjust the plan together.

Secure messages are best for administrative and logistical matters, like scheduling, forms, and brief updates, rather than clinical questions. Clinical questions belong in an appointment, where I can do a proper assessment before giving recommendations. Messages are returned within three business days.

Check with your pharmacy first, then request the refill through your pharmacy or the patient portal. Please allow three business days. I usually send enough medication to last until your next scheduled visit, so if you are due for follow-up I may ask you to book an appointment before refilling.

No. Cognia Health does not write emotional support animal letters, without exception. These letters call for a specific disability evaluation that sits outside the scope of the treatment relationship, so they are not something I provide.

I ask for at least 48 business hours notice to cancel or reschedule. A late cancellation, a no-show, or arriving more than 15 minutes late is charged the full visit fee. Automated reminders are a courtesy, not a substitute for managing your own schedule.

If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call 911 or call or text 988, the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, right away. Cognia Health does not provide on-call or crisis services, so an emergency always needs immediate local help.

Sometimes, and always case by case. When a controlled substance is appropriate, it comes with a written agreement, may involve periodic drug screening, and is tracked through the state Prescription Drug Monitoring Program. These medications are not refilled early, so planning ahead matters.
